Volunteer stay: building a wayusa dryer

In March 2026, a volunteer stay took place in Ecuador. We built a new dryer for wayusa. Together with the indigenous community, we gathered and dried wayusa, ginger and other herbs for the Wayusa Sharay brand, from which herbs and products are bought for our e-shop in the Czech Republic. Thanks to this cooperation, the community has work opportunities, its wisdom and knowledge of herbs stays alive, and high-quality products reach us – cocoa beans, the white cocoa called macambo, wayusa, vilcacora and rainforest ginger. All proceeds from selling these products support the non-profit organisation Život Postaru. The money goes towards buying land in the Ecuadorian rainforest and protecting it from gold mining and total destruction.
